Sonoma County Office of Education
Sonoma State University- The campus of Sonoma State University occupies 260 acres in the beautiful wine country of Sonoma County, in Northern California. Just an hour's drive north of San Francisco, the relatively small campus of 7,749 students allows for close faculty-student interaction. Currently there is on-campus housing which accommodates 2,200 students in both apartment and residential style facilities.
Founded in 1960, Sonoma State University is a liberal arts and sciences university which provides high-quality undergraduate education and selected professional graduate programs. Within its 36 academic departments, SSU offers 41 bachelor’s degree programs and 14 master’s degree programs.
Sonoma State University also serves as an educational and cultural resource for this region by offering courses, lectures, concerts and programs that are open to the public.
Santa Rosa Junior College, founded in 1918, is the tenth oldest of California's two-year community colleges.
The Sonoma County College District operates two campuses; a large 100+ acre campus in the heart of Santa Rosa, and a 40-acre campus in Petaluma. In additiona, courses are offered at a Culinary Arts Center in downtown Santa Rosa, a Public Safety Training Center in Windsor, a 365-acre self-supporting farm near Forestville, and a Technology Academy on the Petaluma Campus.
SRJC offers a strong general education program for students planning to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, as well as more than 140 occupational programs designed to prepare students for the workforce. The college grants both associate of arts (A.A.) and associate of sciences (A.S.) degrees.
